FAQ

Linger Letters, frequently asked questions

Everything here comes from the App Store listing and the app's release notes.

What is Linger Letters?

Linger Letters is a free iPhone app that pairs you with one person at a time. You write one letter a day for seven days, each delivered the next morning. After day seven, you both decide whether to meet.

How many letters do I send and how long can they be?

One letter a day for seven days. Each letter is capped at 500 characters. An optional daily prompt is available if you want a place to start.

Why are letters delivered the next morning?

The delay is deliberate. It means nobody has to answer instantly, and it keeps the exchange slow and considered.

Is there a feed, swiping or live chat?

No. According to the App Store listing there is no public feed, swipe deck, likes counter, multiple-match inbox or real-time chat. You have one active pairing at a time.

What do I see about the person I am paired with?

A first name, an age range, a city, a shared interest and a shared answer.

What happens after day seven?

If both people opt in, Linger suggests a curated real-world plan. If either person passes, the line closes cleanly.

Can I write my first letter before I am paired?

Yes. In version 1.0.5 you can write your opening letter straight away. It is held, nothing is sent, and it becomes your Day 1 letter once you are paired.

How does Linger Letters match people?

Pairings match on city, so the Day 7 plan is somewhere you can both reach. The release notes for version 1.0.5 mention curated venues in Dallas and Lagos.

How are letters checked?

Before a letter is scheduled, Linger checks it for prohibited contact information, threats and explicit requests.

How do I block, report or delete my account?

Block and report controls remain visible throughout the pairing and letter experience. Account deletion is available inside Settings.

Who is it for?

Adults who want a quiet, intentional correspondence experience that may lead to meeting in person. The App Store age rating shown in the US storefront is 16+, and the app asks you to confirm you are 18 or older.

What does it cost and what do I need?

The app is free on the App Store and needs an iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later.

Is there an Android version?

The App Store listing is for iPhone. There is no Android version listed on this site at the moment.
